i miss the 90's - grunge

\

Gwen Stefani in SPIN magazine 90's. The birth of  the "colored" hair trend becomes cool in grunge. she reigns to this day, a fellow LIBRA and trendsetter. OC born and raised, right around the corner from my town.

I love everything about this picture. by the looks of the bags they prob just went shopping or goodwill run or something. i wish i knew girls like these.
one of the 'it" couples in the 90s. wish they would've stayed together, such a hot, grungy pair. both great at what they do

some current mens trends inspired by the 90s grunge. flannel around the waist, leather touches, fingerless gloves.

i guarantee this picture was not from the 90's but the oversized print sweater with hat was definitely a trend more-so from early 90's late 80s. hipster FTW bro man dude

oh Kirsten Dunst, how i loved you in jumanji and hated you in spider man. i mean COME ON

RIP:(

this has always been one of my favorite movies. my mom let me watch it when i was like 7 in 1998. it forever got her and I into witch craft lol we don't worship the devil or anything freaky like that, we just do tarot, herbal remedies. oh and we've always had at least 1 black cat

a 90's fashion icon. i love drew. the party girl, who was always kick ass in all her movies. must be the pisces in her, just a free spirited dreamer. love the last shot in leather
jared leto, another 90's teen icon rocked the ugly "parted mushroom" hair but sported a lot of flannel and ripped jeans which was a pinnacle style for that era.

and of course kurt cobain. i wonder if he knew that mustard+ blue were going to be a huge fashion trend in the future during this pic? prob not, but I'll pretend. AND chucks! the one shoe that reigns from the 50's still classic... and I personally believe everyone needs to own at least one pair.

in short, I know some (and probably most) of you are scratching your heads at why i favor such "grungy" era but it was also one of the most free spirited ones at that! it was rebellious and one of the best times to be a teenager with rock, alternative and garage bands on trend. After a decade of unrealistic 80's fashion, over exaggerated personalities and hair that was literally over the top.. 90's reeled it all back in. minimalism, less is more, etc. I personally love this era and wish i could have been a teenager during it.

  1. I was a teenager in the 90's. It was the best, so much better than being a teenager now.

I love The Craft!! I wanted to be like them :D

I grew up without technology, and music was so much real. Now I feel old haha but I wouldn't change being a teenager in the 90's!!

Even now I like to take inspiration from the 90's.Oh and that's one of my favorite movies as well :) My best friend and I also had a time when we were into witchcraft. 14. This seems like a good era to grow up in ! Too bad I was born in '89, too young to have listened to the Great Kurt Cobain as a teenager. And I can't believe I've never seen The Craft, but I definitely will !

  19. I was 10 in 1990 so I got to be a teen in the 90's. The early 90's were so awesome. That time period really made me who I am today (which is both good and bad) I have a very open mind but can be really depressed at times. I love the rain and mellow music. At the same time I love to be in the sun and free from opression. I am a chick that wants to look good but hates being vain! The 90's had so many ideas and choices that it really confused us teens. But we loved every minute of it! And the music actully came together from all extremes. Rap, metal, grundge, hip hop, all except for country and boy/girl band crap noone liked! HAHA I miss it so frickin much!

  22. I was 17 years old in 1991 when Nevermind was released & it really did change everything in popular culture. In the 1980s it was all about Prince Madonna, Michael Jackson, Guns & Roses, etc. but when Smells Like Teen Spirit landed Gen X went nuts. It was really needed after the Ronald Reagan era. Nirvana basically said fuck you to all the superficial materialistic vacuous pop culture & brought it crashing down to earth with a massive BANG.
